I have loved music every since I was a small child, before I could walk according to my parents. I was constantly surrounded by music – classical, jazz, country, Motown, rock and roll, rock. My passive enjoyment was changed forever when I saw The Beatles playing on Ed Sullivan. I saw that wonderful exciting sounds could be made with guitars! I received my first guitar at the age of 12, and my life began anew. Since then, playing for myself has raised up my sorrows, and accentuated my joys. And, performing for others has brought them joy and pleasure, allowing me to connect in new and fresh ways with people.
Since leaving my scientist life behind, I am starting a second career (with my first passion) as a professional musician, performing and teaching. I play solo fingerstyle as well as in a Church Praise band. And, I am learning Dobro, mandolin and lute to further explore the sounds available to stringed instruments. I have played rock, pop, rock and roll, country, and Praise, both as fingerstyle and with a guitar pick. I am a member of BMI and have written and copyrighted songs.
I would love to teach others how to hear and feel the beauty of this instrument
I taught guitar as a teenager, and there I got my first taste of the joy of teaching and passing on what I know. I have been teaching various skill throughout my life, including Tae Kwon Do (to children and adults) in the 1990s and computer applications in the early 2000s. Now I would like to combine my knowledge and fire for the guitar with the teaching skills learned in my life to instruct and inspire the love of playing music to others.
